Whenever you capture a Pokémon, your Pokédex is instantly filled with all sorts of information about the Pokémon including height and weight and bizarre facts like how Darmanitan can literally punch through a garbage truck (specifically)
All of this knowledge, for lack of a better term, was just waiting to appear in this electronic bestiary, prepped and ready to go
Which begs the question, why the shit were Professor Oak and the rest of the Pokémon Professors making you “complete” the Pokédex in the first place if all of this was already programmed into it
my favorite explanation is the one that posits that all that information is hastily written into the pokedex by you based entirely on assumptions about the pokemon
so you get things like “charizard spits fire hot enough to melt BOULDERS!” and “pidgeot flies at MACH 2” and “blaziken can jump over a 30-STORY BUILDING IN ONE LEAP!” and the really weirdly inaccurate heights and weights of a lot of pokemon
it’s all coming from a ten-year-old
